With 31 editions, the D-Day Landings Marathon is the leading event of Les Courants de la Liberté, on the legendar distance of 42.195km. It has been awarded the FFA national label. Its course is one of the most beautiful ones in France. During this race, personal endeavour is coupled with the discovery of the major milestones of the Normandy Landings (Juno and Sword Beaches, the Casino d’Ouistreham, Pegasus Bridge, etc.), adding a historical reverence to this intense sporting challenge.

Historic edition

In 2019, the D-Day landings marathon will take place as part of the 75th anniversary of d-day and the battle of Normandy.



Start: Courseulles-sur-Mer at 9:10 am - Finish: Parc Expo of Caen.

FFA national label - Limited to a maximum of 3,000 participants.
Championships qualifier in France

Time limit : 5h30
Open to anyone born in 1999 and before (minimum age: 20 years old).

Registration is open until June 12, 2019 (subject to availability).


Bibs will be removed upon presentation of an identity document on the Normandy Running Show at the Parc des Expositions in Caen (Rue Joseph Philippon). :


The presentation of an identity document is mandatory to remove your number. Also bring your bib number to avoid waiting upon removal.

For any bib removed by another person, this must provide his identity document and be provided with a photocopy of the identity document of the person for whom the bib is removed.

No pins will be distributed, remember to bring the necessary pins.

The registration fee of the marathon is € 54.

The marathon is limited in 5 hours and 30 minutes withthe following split time limits :
- km 21 in less than 2:40 ;
- km 25 in less than 3:15 ;
- km 30 in less than 3:55 ;
- km 35 in less than 4:30 ;

For a preferential bib (departure in the 1st wave), you must send a request after registration by e-mail to the following address : Requests must be send before May 6th with a recent proof of performance.

Pace setters will help you to achieve your time objective in 3:00, 3:15, 3:30 ,3:45, 4:00, 4:15 and 4:30.

Strating areas will be set up. Position yourself in the strating area corresponding to your time: elites and preferential bibs, -3:00, -3:30, -4:00, -4:30.

Free shuttle service to drive you from Caen to the start of the marathon in Courseulles-sur-Mer. Rotation period: 6.30 am to 8 am.

Clothing bags may be handed in to the truck located in the start area of the marathon.

Showers and changing room will be available at the Sport Palace in Caen, next to the finish area.

Feed stations will be available to each 5 km wih refreshment point (water, bananas, oranges, sugar cubes and dried fruits). After the finish line, a local buffet will be offered by Bienvenue en Gourmandie, to permit you to discover and savor local products.

A New Balance technical t-shirt and a collector medal will be awarded upon arrival.

In the Harmonie Mutuelle physiotherapists’ area, located after the finish line, 30 physiotherapists and chiropodists welcome you to lavish care and recovery massages.
